The history of Thailand:

The history of Thailand can be traced back to the early thirteen houndreds. The culture and economy of the country known for centuries as Siam was basicly determined by the nearby Chinese and Indian influences.

In the 1750's Siam was exposed to the attacks of the neighboring Burma. Lateron europian conquerers appeared too,but thanks to the excellent diplomatic talent of the thai rulers and the british-french conflicts, till today Thailand is the only Southeast-Asian country that has never been a colony. As a result of the elections in 2007, Thailand is managed by a democratic government. Thailand' exports exceed 105 billion USD/year. Main export products are: rice, textil, shoes, fishing products, rubber, jewelries, vehicles, computers, electrionic devices. Thailand is the world's biggest rice exporter with 6,5 million tonns every year. Rice is the most important product of the country. The proportion of territories capable for cultivation is 27,25% , wich is the highest in this region. 55% of the cultivatable territories are being used for rice production.
